I digitally painted my hand with my engagement ring. I put it in front of a photograph of the jeweler from which we purchased the ring. A very small and faint "Diamonds are a girl's best friend" is written above the shop, representing the commercialization of marriage proposals.

Techniques: Extending the sky, digital painting, text editing and adjusting.

Here, I took a drawing I did of Sam and me dancing and put it over an image of an apartment kitchen from the complex that he used to live. I overlayed text onto the background of lyrics from songs that are personal to us. The text on the left is from our upcoming first dance song. Upside down is lyrics from a song I played on our first date. It's supposed to represent the beginning of the relationship and the beginning of the marriage.

This humorous collage of unflattering photos is supposed to represent how, when you really love someone, it doesn't matter what else is going on; you can only see them.

On a more personal note, I've been told a lot recently by friends and family that I'm too young to be getting married. Here I leaned into that youthfulness, because when I think about humorous iPhone photos, it brings "adolescent" into mind before "grown adult." The juxtaposition between perceived immaturity due to age and internal peace and readiness is supposed to be represented by the images being of a fiancé, rather than a boyfriend.

I tried my hand at graphic design and made my own "save the date" card. I extended the sky and sides of the photo to fit the desired card dimensions.
